The "Villa Lyubimets" trademark appeared on the Bulgarian market in 2001 when 740 acres of land in the Lyubimets region were planted with red varieties and the products were named after its place of origin. The Villa Lyubimets vineyards are located along the lower course of the Maritza River, which divides the southern slopes of the Rhodope Mountains and the Sakar Mountains. 740 acres of land were planted with red wine varieties such as the classical French Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the grape variety Syrah - so popular nowadays - and also the typical Bulgarian Mavrud.
